This is high school reimagined

Building skills, building confidence, & building memories

"Alzar helped me find lifelong friends, cultivated my desire to explore, and equipped me with the interpersonal skills I needed to become more independent and confident. Each day was filled with laughter and adventure, in and out of the classroom. I chose to attend Alzar because I wanted to diversify my high-school experience, and this program was certainly successful in helping me achieve that. I now have a passion for cultural exchange, leadership, and outdoor adventure, as well as a broader perspective of the world."

Develop skills through authentic experiences: classroom, expedition, and community.

Alzar School offers a transformative high school semester at the intersection of engaging academics, cultural exchange, and outdoor adventure. Students continue their academic classes while living and learning in the peaks of Patagonia and along the rivers of the American West. With small class sizes and faculty who live, study, and travel alongside them, students build strong relationships and gain a deeper understanding of the world. Each semester's expeditions vary based on water levels and other factors, but may include paddling the Salmon River, exploring the Owyhee Desert, kayaking the Baker River in Patagonia, and trekking through Patagonia National Park.

We believe that the world is our classroom, and we embrace experiential learning as a powerful way to enhance education.
