Introducing our Alzar Gap Instructors

Alzar School | 14.08.23

At Alzar Gap we are gearing up for an exciting year of programming. In particular, we are still accepting students for our Fall Patagonia Exchange Program and we’ll be accepting applications until September 1, 2023 (click here to start the app).

In other news, I’m excited to introduce you to our two new instructors who will be joining us for our gap programs, Skye and Dylan. They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team and I’m thrilled to have them on board. Get to know them with their bios below!

Originally from Northern California, Skye is an avid outdoor enthusiast that spends most of her time on rivers. In her first college summer she went to a guide school on the South Fork of the American River in California where she found community and a passion for whitewater rafting. Throughout her seven years of being a river guide she has completed her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Studio Art, traveled and worked in Chile, and most recently bought her very own tiny, container home in the Sierra foothills. As an alum of Alzar School, she is so excited to work with Alzar Gap to be able to further share her love of the outdoors, and the community formed by it through education, travel and cultural exchange.

Dylan grew up in the mountains and rivers of New Mexico where his love for the outdoors began. He studied Outdoor Recreation in Washington to help build the foundation of teaching outdoor education to young adults. He has been guiding commercially for 5 years on rivers in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Chile, and Iceland. Dylan loves to see individual growth from his students both in their technical skills but also in interpersonal skills during long expeditions. On these expeditions he loves to inspire a love and appreciation for our planet and the environment. Dylan is thrilled to join the Alzar Gap team and share his love of the outdoors, the environment, and southern Chile with our students.

If you haven’t seen it already, I encourage you to check out the latest gap video that showcases our students in our spring programming.
